WARNING........

Knitter's discretion advised. Some knitters may find the following scene disturbing, so if you are faint of heart, you may want to look away.

I finished the back of the sweater I started for myself. I have decided to go with a hooded pullover. And, I decided to put a cable up the center. I should not have worked on this yesterday after working the night before and having little sleep. I am not following a pattern, I am winging it, I expect that there will be a little trial and error. I got about 3 inches into the pattern and noticed one of the first cables got twisted the wrong direction. This is what it looked like around 2:30 (remember you were warned, it is not pretty). My mom was a pro at this fixing style. I used to be so disappointed when she would have me rip things because I had seen her work this magic before. I know now, that it is not always advisable to do this. It worked in this case though. This is what it looked like a little later. I have lost the sunlight though so I can't get a really good picture. There is a storm coming and it has gotten dark and gloomy out really quickly. The cables show up much better in real life. I am sure I will be taking a better picture of it soon.

Remember that knitting goal I had for last week? I failed. Not miserably, but fail I did. I have one pair very close to finished. I am blaming it all on work. I took my knitting along Saturday night. You know that extra hour I had to work because of the time change. I was hoping to squeeze some knitting time in. Hopeful thinking I know, I didn't even get to take a potty break, let alone get into my knitting bag. Now, I don't know if I will get them done this week. I want to finish the sweater. The "snow" word has been mentioned in our weather forecast for this week :) Just flurries, but it is still snow, and I love snow. A nice warm, woolly sweater will be wonderful. I hate to wear coats and I think this will work splendidly.

I have a little progress on the blue Alpaca Sox sock. I have decided to call these Cool Breeze. They really are a little darker than this in real life. This yarn is soooo soft. It would make a lovely warm scarf, I may have to buy more : )
Well, I am going to go play on Ravelry for a bit. Have a great week all.

Well, the ripping out did make me a little faint, but I just put my head between my legs and it went away! The sweater is going to be beautiful!! Also love the socks. And I am SO excited that you're on Ravelry now!! Your son is justified in being worried about your computer usage going up!! ;-)

All I can say about that fixing you did is WOW! That's as impressive as any knitting I've seen. It says a lot about how well you understand the craft.

At least just ripping back the problem sts. is better than having to rip the entire thing. It went back together lovely.

I agree to blame it on work. Don't they know that you are supposed to have a few hours to knit? Geeesh. ;)

Very pretty sock.

I love the yarn and the cable pattern on your sweater--can't wait to see if finished. You are very talented as well as being very brave! Sock is wonderful too.

Oh My Gosh! When you said you ripped back 20 rows I didn't invision that. But you are a knitting goddess, so I wasn't worried about your sweater. Your sock is coming right along (do I have the pattern for that one yet?). Talk to you later!

My word, you are certainly fearless. I would never have even attempted a fix like what you just did and I have been knitting too many years to mention. You are amazing!! Wish I could manage to do that kind of damage control, but I don't think I have the nerves for it!!

Your sweater will be beautiful when finished :)

I'm impressed! If that were me, you would have to reverse the before and after photos, and there wouldn't be a return to the cables.

Nice sock!

The same thing happens to me...if I take my knitting to work, thinking Imight get a little done during my breaks, that's when all heck breaks loose, and I'm lucky to even get a patty break. When I don't take my knitting, all is usually quiet, and I'm sitting there wishing I would have brought it...guess that's the joy of nursing!!
Your repair work looks great!! I really don't know how you got that all straightened back out--but you didan awesome job, and the sweater is looking beautiful!!

That is one magnificent colorway. Great photography. Isn't the new light challenging around savings time? What is the yarn and colorway please???

Sorry you had to rip, but I am sure it is all okay now.

I love the colour of the yarn you are using for your sweater! Wow, if I had noticed the cable going the wrong way it would either have stayed that way or I would have had to rip everything out (at least to the ribbing). Other than doing that, I don't know how to fix things like that...I have a hard time fixing mistakes in lace as well so the mistakes usually either get all ripped out or left in, depending how much knitting I've completed.

The sock is looking great! Is this one of your patterns you'll have available at the Loopy Ewe?

Yikes! I am so bad about salvaging mess-ups. I'll just rip and start over. I'm soooo impressed with your stick-to-it-ive-ness:)

That would have been quite the task...you did it though!!

Another great pair of socks on the go!

Oh Monica- I bow to your superior knitting skills. You momma obviously taught you well! I have ripped back that way on occasion but never 20 rows of cable.

(dabbing the sweat on my brow)

Well, that did make me a little faint, although I have heard of knitters "redoing" cables that way. I never saw one in action!

all your socks are gorgeous - as for the ripping, I've been doing a *lot* of that lately on a cabled sweater as well - I've been modifying the pattern and I keep changing my mind on how things should progress....so drop back the cabled stitches and reknit em up :D

What pattern are you knitting btw? I love that center cable motif!
