How Does This Happen So Fast

Can someone please explain to me how you can come home one day with the most precious gift, small and helpless, and the most beautiful thing you have ever seen and then in a blink of an eye, she is a beautiful, independent young lady. Yesterday was my firstborns 16th birthday.....how did that happen? It boggles the mind. Happy Birthday my dear sweet daughter.

I finished a set of fingerless mitts for her and a hat she requested. I thought I was safe posting them on my Flickr site, thinking she wouldn't go there ... but she did. Apparently she likes to frequent my sites in her Web Page Design class at school....who knew. She was thrilled with them . She wouldn't stop messing around, so I couldn't get a good picture of them on her, but I have a back up.

I started another pair of fingerless mitts. I will have to ask DD1 just how many pair of these she is going to need to gift this Christmas, they can be addictive I tell you. The center panel is borrowed from the 365 day stitch calendar. I really like these, and she says they fit great! They are being knit in Lorna's Laces Sport in the Somerset colorway.
Well I have a ton of things to do today, so I must scoot. Just a short post today.
It is unseasonably warm here today, but not too humid which helps. I want the cool crisp fall weather, I have socks I want to wear :) I am sure it will get here eventually.
Have a great day all.

I can't help you with that question. I'm still trying to figure out how mine got to be 22 and 17! She looks like she had a great day. Hugs and kisses to the birthday girl (sorry we had to miss it).

It's going to be absurdly hot until next week here. Cincinnati is supposed to be cool now. I've also got lots of fun socks to wear but can't seem to put the sandals away.

Happy 16th Birthday to your beautiful daughter.

I am still trying to figure out that question. Heck James will be 3 this Jan. I swear that I just brought him home.

The mitts are lovely. Looks like the hat and mitts were a big hit, they are very cute.

Yeah I would like to know where fall is too. It is 88 today so far. I just don't get it.

The mitt at the bottom is so pretty.

Happy Birthday to your daughter.

I think kids are in some weird time space warp thing that seems to allow them to age at a rate much faster than we adults. That's my theory and I'm sticking to it.

Happy birthday to your daughter!

The fingerless mitts and hat look great on her, and I love the new one you're making...such a pretty colourway.

Happy Birthday to DD#1. I know what you are saying about the shock that they are all grown up. It happened to me with Ariella's wedding. Suddenly she was a woman!

A beautiful young lady--they do grow up fast. Beautiful hat and gloves and socks.

I too have asked that question and I am afraid I have no answer for it either. My daughter is 28. The hat and the fingerless mittens are beautiful!

Those fingerless mitts are great! It's nice that they are appreciated. I made some for my daughter in red that I think are fab, but she said, "Why would anyone wear those?"
I agree it all goes so fast - the days are endless but the years fly by.

21 yr. old, 20 yr. old, 18 yr. old...I know how you feel! It's nice to see the person they become, too, though!

Just wait till she turns 25 like mine did this summer, then you will REALLY be wondering how it could have happened so fast, on top of that, mine has already given me 2 grandchildren, it's not fair, I want to turn back time and do it all over again!!!

Forgot to mention in my last comment...hope you feel better real soon!!

Our kids grow up too fast. It really make me feel old when I realize I have a college senior..yikes, but still have a 12 year old so I'm not done. Just enjoy every minute and keep knitting to keep your nerves calm ;)

Time flies when you're ... having fun. I wonder how my 3 all got into their 30's already. And someone said they couldn't believe I was a great-grandmother. Well I CAN't HARDLY believe my daughter is a GRANDMOTHER already. (her daughter is 18) Oh what a surprise, huh?

Monica--I don't know how it happens so fast!! And just wait until a few more years go by, and you're becoming a grandma!! I STILL don't know how that one happened!!!! But it is alot of fun!!!
