DD2 celebrated her 10th birthday yesterday. We just had a small family celebration yesterday. Once school is going full swing, we will have a friends party. It is so hard to schedule friend parties in the summer, everyone is on vacation, and the week before school seems to be the worst. Here she is cheering herself on because she was windy enough to blow out ALL 10 candles in one breath. She is too funny. She requested a DQ ice cream cake, which is fine with me. I don't have to spend hours decorating a cake that way.
Now, onto knitting... I finished the Wollmeise socks. These are knit in the Spice Market colorway. I love, love, love this yarn. I love the feel of it, I love the sheen it has, and I loved knitting with it. The Loopy Ewe is going to be getting more sometime soon, and I will be up for that sneak up. Sheri calls them "sneak ups", I refer to them as "drive by yarnings", because the yarn is here and gone before you know it, and so few witness it. Esp. if it is something that is hard to get your hands on, like the Wollmeise. And to celebrate finishing the socks, I wound more yarn and started another. The sKNITches in the Handsome Devil colorway. This yarn is unbelievably soft. I am enjoying working with it. And it has great stitch definition.
Well, DD2 will be walking through the door in about 5 minutes and will be talking my ears off, so that is it for today. Have a great week and Happy Knitting!

Your baby looks like she's grown a foot since I saw her a few weeks ago. The cake looks yummy! The Woolmeise socks are so pretty (I will be "test knitting" it really soon). And your new sock is gorgeous! That yarn has great stitch definition and the pattern looks like it will fun to knit (write it up fast).
Oh no, school started already...I thought we started early and we start 2 weeks from today!!
Lovely socks...as always :)
happy knitting :)
It seems that the school year starts earlier and earlier each year.
Best wishes to your daughter for a wonderful year!
Beautiful socks! What is the pattern for the new pair?
I can't believe that they are back to school aready. Doesn't seem like they have all been out that long.
Happy Birthday you your little girl!!!!
Great socks!
Wow! that's an early start to the school year!! (Does this mean you'll have a little more knitting time in your day??) I LOVE the socks!! (both the ones in progress and the finished pair of Woolmeise) Love the pattern of the new ones!
Wow...school starts early in your neck of the woods! The kids here start in September (the first week...possibly on the 2nd if it isn't on a weekend).
Another good thing about a pre-decorated and made cake...it gives you more time to knit ;o).
Man, school doesn't start here for another couple weeks.
How did your inlaws like their throw?
Happy birthday DD2.
We go back on Monday and we are SOOOO ready. However Baby Girl starts Kindergarten so I know I'll be an emotional mess, but I'll be at school and will be much better leaving her in her class as opposed to watching her drive away on a bus!!
Your story about first school days brought to mind many stories about my daughter. Even though it makes you happy to see them moving on and accomplishing their goals--it is still hard to let go. The teachers have already started school, but the kids start on Monday. I love the new socks, especially that new one!
Funny little school story...my kids are all grown now but: Pam was headed off to school with her older brother and sister and cried the whole way to the bus stop. I was able to watch from the house with the new baby....her older sister told her to stop crying or go home...she decided to go home. I had to walk her back up to the bus stop and hope she didn't miss the bus. when I went home I cried for her...what mother's will do.
Love your devil colorway!! and the pattern is awesome.
Your story brought tears to my eyes! I'm sending my 5 yo to Kindergarten this year. I haven't really been through this before since my oldest kids were past first grade when we adopted them. I cry just reading about Grover going to school for the first time!
I hope the adjustment to school goes smoothly for you.
Happy first day of school! That is an exciting time for both Moms and kids. Your story was so sweet! Loved it. My baby is coming out to visit me today (vacations before college starts). YEAH!
