A Little of the Christmas Knitting

First the fingerless gloves/mitts for my niece and nephew. My nephew wanted a pair of fingerless gloves to keep his hands warm yet still be able to use the keyboard for the computer. His are knit in Jo Sharp Alpaca Silk Georgette in the Pearl color. And for my niece a pair of fingerless mitts, knit in Misti Alpaca Sport in the Lavender color. I didn't use a pattern for either pair. My sister assures me that Curtis will love the gloves and I am pretty sure Amanda will love the fingerless mitts as I can't keep them off my eldest daughter's hands. She loves them.

I knit a pair of socks for my husband, he refuses to even try them on. He has told me that he does not want any hand knit items, but I was hoping to convert him. I knew I was setting myself up for disappointment even as I knit them, but I was hoping. My daughter loves them and they fit her, so if I can't sway him into giving them a try, they will go to her. But I really wish he would at least try them on. They are knit in Trekking color 102 on size 1 DPN's. A 3 x 1 rib for the leg, 68 stitches, just my generic sock pattern.

The eldest, decided to go through my yarn to pick out what she wanted for her fingerless mitts. She picked some white Baby Ull and some Baby Ull I had dyed. I started knitting and I thought they looked a little too little girlie for her, but she insisted they were fine. So, I get the first one knit, and guess who doesn't like them. Well, the youngest does, so they will go to her. I am going to knit a pair for Kaitlin in the lavender alpaca just like Amanda's. Thank goodness I have another ball or two of that. It is a stranded salt and pepper st on the hand and a 2 x 1 rib for the cuff, thumb and top of the hand.

I still need to make Amanda's bag and finish up a few things for Karen. I am so glad for the extra week , well now it is only 4 days, so I need to get busy. I hope every one had a great Christmas.

Curtis will love them! and Mandy too! You know, those socks would probably fit me too.... you're girl is so fickle with those mitts, but they do look more Lauren than Kaitlin. Hope to see you soon!...

Those socks look great! He should at least try them on. As for the mitts, too cute, I love my fingerless gloves.

Gorgeous socks and mitts. Did you have to knit each finger and then knit them together to form the glove?

I can't believe your hubby won't even try on the socks. Every pair on the needles my hubby asks, "Are you making those for me?"

The mitts came out wonderful.

My hubby is the same as Diane's. Every pair I have on the needles he says "is that for me?"
I love the mitt's and the socks, they are gorgeous. You're hubby doesn't know what he is missing!

Your Hubby's socks are beautiful.. I think men sometimes have to be transitioned into knitted items... My DH will wear beanie hats I make but nothing else. So in a way I understand.. The fingerless mitts are gorgeous...Ü

All of your knitting is beautiful, but I just have to say I just love the colors your eldest daughter picked out even though she didn't end up liking it after all. Those fingerless gloves are beautiful and I think your youngest lucked out :)

happy knitting in 2007 :)

I've asked my dad if he'd like me to knit him some wool socks...he says no. I don't think I'll make any in hopes of converting him though...the ones you did for your hubby look great!

I like those fingerless mitts in the last post...very pretty and colourful! The other ones look great too!

Fingerless mitts are neat! Oooo, and I love the socks for your DH. Mine doesn't want me to knit him socks but he LOVES his fingerless mitts. Only other thing he wanted was a hat that covers his ears & even the back of his neck, but won't let me take a picture of him wearing it until it SNOWS. Men!

Such lovely mittens!
I've knit 2 pairs of socks for my husband. He hasn't tried them on yet. Right now he's sick and had cold feet. I grabbed an old pair, which were too wide for me and he loved them. Now, I know what the fuss is about, he said. I don't understand this at all. Why not give it a try???

I love the fingerless gloves. I'm impressed that you launched onto them without a pattern. I was tempted to do so for some I was making, but chickened out.
Good luck with the husband thing, mine insists he doesn't need anything knit, but I think the right pair of wool socks might win him over
